Everyone is encouraged to participate in the WDA Committees that best suit their individual interests and expertise. We have the following working committees:
- Economic Restructuring
Let us know if you are interested in participating in any of these committees or if you have questions—we would love to have your expertise and enthusiasm on board!
The Promotions Committee sells a positive image of downtown and encourages consumers and investors to live, work, shop, play and invest here. By marketing downtown's unique characteristics to residents, investors, business owners, and visitors, an effective promotional strategy forges a positive image through advertising, retail promotional activity, special events, and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers. These activities improve consumer and investor confidence in downtown and encourage commercial activity and investment in the area.
The Promotions Committee also coordinates special events such as the Wenatchee Taste of the Harvest, Holiday Open House & Wine Walk, Holiday Tree Lighting, Free Photos with Santa, Pizza with Santa, Halloween Trick or Treat on the Avenue, Summer Sidewalk Sale, Dancin in the Streets and more.
The Promotions Committee meets every 4th Thursday of the month at Caffe Mela at 8:30 a.m.
The Design Committee aims to get downtown into top physical shape. Capitalizing on its best assets — such as historic buildings and pedestrian-oriented streets — is just part of the story. An inviting atmosphere, created through attractive window displays, parking areas, building improvements, street furniture, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping, conveys a positive visual message downtown and what it has to offer. Design activities also include instilling good maintenance practices, enhancing the physical appearance of the area by rehabilitating historic buildings, encouraging appropriate new construction, developing sensitive design management systems, and long-term planning.
The Design Committee meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. at the WDA office - 103 Palouse Street, Suite 35
The Economic Enhancement Committee strengthens downtown's existing economic assets while expanding and diversifying its economic base. This committee helps sharpen the competitiveness of existing business owners and recruits compatible new businesses and new economic uses to build downtown that responds to today's consumers' needs. Converting unused or underused commercial space into economically productive property also helps boost the profitability of the district.
The Economic Restructuring Committee meets the 4th Tuesday of every month at noon at the WDA office - 103 Palouse Street, Suite 35
