Last month he enjoyed playing concerts around the Sunbelt, in Los Angeles, Dallas and Houston; January and February will find him in North Dakota, Washington State and on tour once again in Anchorage and smaller towns in Alaska.

Pianist Doris Stevenson has won lavish praise from critics and the public alike for her solo and collaborative performances.  She has soloed with the Boston Pops, played at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Salle Pleyel in Paris and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.   In addition, Stevenson has performed with the leading lights in string playing such as Gregor Piatigorsky, Ruggiero Ricci and Paul Tortelier.  Early in her career, she was invited by Heifetz and Piatigorsky to perform with them together.  Stevenson is a founding member of the Sitka Summer Music Festival in Alaska, and has participated in numerous chamber music festivals throughout the United States.

Evan Drachman established The Piatigorsky Foundation in 1990 in honor of his grandfather Gregor Piatigorsky.  Piatigorsky deeply believed in the healing and inspiration power of classical music.  He once said, “Music makes life better.  Music is a necessity.  It is rich.  It is imaginative.  It is magnificent.  And it is for everyone”.  Through his sizzling artistry and charismatic personality, Piatigorsky thus enlivened his mission by performing for millions of people around the globe.  The Piatigorsky Foundation is committed to carrying on Piatigorsky’s noble aspiration by evoking cultural curiosity through educational and accessible live performances.   ***

YOGA

Gentle Yoga for Beginners & Seniors:
Monday Noon 12:00 - 1:00, cost $8
Tuesday Mornings 10:15 – 11:45 am, cost $10
Tuesday Evenings 5:30 – 6:30 pm, cost $8
You are never too old, or young, to do yoga. Yoga postures will help reverse the aging process by moving each joint through its full range or motion - stretching and balancing each part. Improving the posture alone affects every system of the body!

Yin Yoga:
Monday Evenings 5:30 - 6:30, cost $8
Yin Yoga postures gently stretch and rehabilitate our joints by holding deep relaxed poses for several minutes, thereby addressing the connective tissues. This gentle and calming approach to your body has a remarkable affect on your overall wellbeing

For more Gentle/Yin Yoga information contact Ada Riley at

Iyengar Style Yoga:
Wednesday Evenings 5:30 – 6:6:30 pm, cost $8
Beginners and experienced students welcome. Each class includes a specific focus of poses including standing, seated poses, balancing, back bends and inversions.

For more Iyengar yoga information contact Tracy Mahoney at (509) 860-1838

You are welcome to join the Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga and Iyengar style yoga classes at any time. Arrive 5 minutes early, wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat if you have one (we do have a few mats available if you forget or don't have a mat). If you have never attended or it has been awhile since your last class it is a good idea to call the store before the class, occasionally a class is canceled.

Traditional Yoga:
The posture of consciousness six weeks of classes taught is by Stan Bryant. Stan has 7 years experience in the Amrit Yoga system. Amrit Yoga connects yoga practice with the ancient roots and fundamental principals that are at the core of all branches of yoga.
Thursday Evenings, 5:30 – 7:00 pm, cost $60 - 6 classes. Next session begins January 28. For more information and to sign up for the class, contact Stan Bryant at (509) 687-3180 http://amrityogachelan.wordpress.com/
