Mulch Madness Downtown! (7:00AM - 7:00AM)
Spruce-Up Downtown!Friday September 10th7:00am to 11:00am We will be cleaning, trimming and placing compost in 58 planting beds along Wenatchee Avenue between 2nd and Yakima. Six yards of Stemilt World Famous Compost is being donated! Plus Gloria Kupferman, Master Gardener, GARDEN COACH, has visited all 58 planting beds and developed a plan to make them POP as only a Master Gardener can. And, to help get that compost to us, PAPE is donating the use of equipment. Right now Shelly from the City of Wenatchee Parks Dept. will supervise/help that day. She is currently putting together a plan of action for each bed—some beds need a lot of compost, others can’t get any more mulch because the dirt is already too high for the beds. First everything will need to be trimmed and all garbage removed from the planters, then in comes the compost. Then, on another date, we will plant new stuff, and move some stuff around to make it all look super.
Volunteers should bring their own hand-clippers; round-edge, or square shovels; gloves; and a broom or soft rake. We could use a few wheelbarrows too, so bring one if you have it! If you are new to this whole garden thing and have no tools, trust us, we will take care of YOU!
We will be meeting in the Key Bank parking lot and go from there!
