Icicle Creek Youth Symphony Auditions,

September 3, 2008

Auditions for All Orchestral Instruments

Woods House Conservatory, 5:00 PM-8:00 PM

On September 3, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony, North Central Washington's premier youth symphony, and official Symphony In Residence at the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee will be holding auditions for all orchestral instruments for its 2008-2009 concert season. Auditions will be held at the Woods House Conservatory in Wenatchee, located at 323 1st Street. All interested students must audition. String players will be heard from 5:00-7:00 PM; winds, brass and percussion players will be heard from 7:00-8:00 PM. Each student should be prepared to play a 2- or 3- octave major and minor scale plus a solo piece of their choice that shows their level of proficiency. Some sight-reading may be included. Auditions will last up to 5 minutes. Those interested in joining the Icicle Creek Academy Orchestra, ICYS's program for younger or less-experienced musicians, should note that auditions will be held September 15, from 5:00-6:30 PM onstage at the Wenatchee Performing Arts Center. Icicle Creek Academy Orchestra students should prepare one scale of one or more octaves and part of one piece for auditions.

As the official Symphony In Residence of the Wenatchee Performing Arts Center, the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony, under Music Director and Conductor Dr. Jeremy Briggs Roberts, will begin its fourteenth year of providing high quality orchestral music instruction to elementary, middle school and high school instrumental music students throughout the North Central Washington region. The program offers two full semesters and one optional quarter, Fall Semester, Winter Semester, and a Spring Chamber Music Quarter, that parallel the school year. Students involved in the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony come from the Greater Wenatchee area, Leavenworth, Cashmere, Peshastin, Dryden, Quincy, and locations as far away as Twisp, Moses Lake and Ellensburg.
