For Immediate Release: Wenatchee Downtown Association Welcomes New Director to Its Board
Downtown Wenatchee—The Wenatchee Downtown Association (WDA) announces that Alan Walker has joined its board of directors effective August 12, 2009. Walker was appointed to fill a vacant position by the WDA board of directors. He currently serves as executive director for the United Way of Chelan & Douglas Counties. “Alan is an excellent addition to our board,” said WDA executive director Sarah Dempsey. “His past involvement other downtown projects, in addition to being a hands-on volunteer for our own association, make him a natural fit.” The Wenatchee Downtown Association is run by an all-volunteer, working board made up of people who are dedicated to maintaining a viable, economically solid downtown core. In addition, board members serve on one or more committees that the WDA facilitates in the areas of Design, Economic Restructuring and Promotion. The WDA is a membership-based, 501 c 6, non-profit organization that follows the Main Street Approach to downtown revitalization. Over 1200 traditional downtowns across the country take this comprehensive, volunteer-driven approach. The WDA was the winner of the 2003 Great American Main Street Award.
The mission of the Wenatchee Downtown Association is to promote and enrich the downtown experience.
