Know Your City! In light of these economic times, when there is much banter about how our tax dollars are spent, the City of Wenatchee would like to offer the opportunity to talk with city staff about the everyday services and programs provided to our citizens. In an effort called “Know Your City,” City employees and stakeholders will be volunteering time to occupy a donated storefront in Downtown Wenatchee for at least a six-week period beginning Tuesday, October 12th. The hours for the space will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 to 6 and Saturdays from 1 to 4. The space is located in the Morris Building at 23 S. Wenatchee Avenue. In addition to the set hours, the space may also be open at other times for public meetings or in conjunction with community activities such as Make a Difference Day and Halloween on the Avenue. The purpose is to provide one location where citizens can easily access information about City programs, initiatives and the City budget. The City encourages you to visit the store front and visit with City staff. We desire to hear your ideas, suggestions, and comments about City services. “In reviewing information about the things the various city departments do on a daily basis to provide a safe and livable community, it is truly overwhelming. We believe this information will be very informative and generate some great discussions about the priorities of the City moving forward,” stated Mayor, Dennis Johnson. The space will be a work in progress as well, should citizens desire additional information, those displays will be added as the week’s progress. In addition, citizens will be able to: · Learn about City Advisory Board openings and apply on site · Sign up for e-notifications of a new City Newsletter · Volunteer for projects that can be done on Make a Difference Day or every day · Evaluate what the City is providing and give feedback that will be utilized in developing the City budget and programs for the coming years

Additionally in the afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 we’ll be gathering input from staff and the public about the storefront and the type of feedback received from the public. · Tuesday, December 7 – Young professionals – Several young professionals have approached the city to discuss what needs to happen in the city to keep it attractive for young professionals not only to locate here but STAY. · Thursday, December 9 – Overall City marketing and economic development – There have been many discussions about the city’s role in the overall marketing and economic development of the region.
