Wyatt Gardiner (2010 - 2013) | Circulation Manager | The Wenatchee World

A recent newcomer to the valley, Wyatt believes that Wenatchee has an outstanding downtown area that has so much to offer the region. From the newcomers to the block or the storefronts that have been a family business for decades, we have something to be proud of here. The WDA is a vital part of the success of each of these businesses. Wyatt wants to see a downtown that is pedestrian-friendly, family-friendly, inviting, bustling and sustainable. WDA can and should be a huge driving force in that effort, maintaining downtown as a source of pride for our community.

Main Street Accreditation
The Washington State Main Street program reviews our organization once per year to ensure that we are meeting standards for a successful downtown revitalization effort. Our board president reviews this document with the executive director and the board. It has been an effective tool to help track our results from year to year. WDA has been accredited by Washington state and the National Main Street Program every year since 1992.

What Happened to Downtown?
The story of downtown is an intriguing one. Downtown districts across the United States have gone through transitions similar to Wenatchee's. This powerpoint, with notes, shows local and national examples of how associations such as ours can help revitailize an important part of our community.

About Downtown Wenatchee
City of Wenatchee's Sub-Area Plan for the Central Business District
Downtown Wenatchee lies within the city of Wenatchee's Central Business District boundaries. This encompasses a large footprint from 5th street on the north to Thurston on the south, and from Chelan Ave. on the west to Columbia Street on the east. Several zoning overlays lie within the broader boundary, including Wenatchee's Historic Core, the stretch of Wenatchee Avenue between Second Street and Yakima Street.
