Four Amateur Chefs Needed to Star in the 4th Annual Improv Chef Live Cook-Off.

It’s simple—You have 30 minutes to prepare a dish that will make our “secret ingredient” truly shine!  Your dish will be rated on its own merits by four local judges. Improv Chef is a live cook-off taking place on Wenatchee Avenue as part of our Wenatchee Taste of the Harvest festival.  There will be an emcee, an audience and four judges. Contestants will compete in pairs.  The winners of the two Qualifying Rounds will compete in the Grand Prize Round.

The Details:

Qualifying Round 1: 11:00 a.m. | Judging 11:40

Qualifying Round 2: 12:00 p.m. | Judging 12:40

Professional Chef Demonstration featuring Chef Richard Kitos:  1:00-3:00

Final Round: 3:00 p.m. | Judging 4:15

Grand Prize Winner Announced:  4:30

Ingredients:

Chefs will need to bring all of their own ingredients (enough for 2 possible rounds.) Improv Chef will provide the "Special Ingredient" the WA State Potato, during the qualifying rounds, and the "Secret Ingredient" for the final round.

Chefs can bring any ingredients they want, but everything must be prepared on-site. No pre-prepped ingredients will be allowed. A list of ingredients must be submitted by 9/7/10 and is subject to approval by the festival coordinator.

Cookware & Equipment:

Chefs will be provided with a cooler and a prep table.  Chefs are expected to bring their own grill, along with any other equipment, utensils or cookware that they might need.  A list of equipment should be submitted by 9/7/10 and is subject to approval by the festival coordinator.

Judging:

Each chef must prepare a dish large enough to provide four “tastes” for the judges.  Dishes will be presented and judged individually.  Each judge will award up to 50 points based on the following criteria:

·        15 points:  appearance

·        15 points:  taste

·        20 points:  use of special or secret ingredient

A total of 200 points per round is available to each Chef, highest score wins.  In the case of a tie, the higher “use of special/secret ingredient” score will prevail.

Prizes:

All 4 contestants will receive GREAT prizes from: The Kitchen Sync, WA State Potato Commission & Coca-Cola.

GRAND PRIZE: One night stay, and 2 rounds of golf, at Alta Lake Golf Course in Pateros.

RUNNER-UP: One night stay at the Icicle Village Resort in Leavenworth.
